Incredibly cute baby fruit bat

We are done with birdwatching in northern Queensland and have a day in its largest city, Cairns.  We're staying today at a luxury hotel with clean white linens, room service, air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. We walked out to get some provisions for our trip to Gladstone tomorrow to catch a boat to Heron Island  the next day  We had read that there is a controversy with fruit bats in the trees of the public library. Some people want to get rid of them because of the smell. Others, animal lovers like ourselves, enjoy the bats and are willing to put up with a minor inconvenience. Then, there are some who care for the bats,  We walked over to the library and ran into two women with large nets who were looking for orphan bats. They were leaving and we struck up a conversation with them. Little did we realize that they had caught several and were taking them home to bottlefeed them. They let us look at one.  They are as cute in person as their photos.
